This wool pile, with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation, is a magnificent, well-preserved, and impeccably drawn workshop carpet in the Classic Style, referencing pieces from Persia's golden age. The sand-colored field features elaborate in-and-out palmettes, sinuous cloud bands, and coiled arabesques (islimi), along with a secondary arabesque design and a wealth of perfectly placed lesser vegetal elements. The main slate blue border showcases a continuous pattern of various types of in-and-out palmettes. Kerman carpets in the Classic Style were produced only during a few years in the 1920s, and this imposing example is undoubtedly one of the finest. It is of Lavar high quality.
