A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The coral field features a leaf-and-flower diamond trellis, anchored by colorful rosettes. The pattern is exceptionally well-balanced, particularly given the size of the work. This carpet is at the size limit for Mahal/Arak/Sultanabad weavers and likely took at least six experienced artisans the better part of a year to complete. The strip-style near-black border displays a florally budding leafy stem meander, with palmettes, rosettes, and touches of pale blue. The straw-colored ground reverses into fan palmette minors. A special order piece.
