An antique Persian Tabriz rug. A soft, yellow-beige field displays an open slate blue skeletal trellis delineating large and lesser cartouches, quatrefoils and concave diamonds. A lower level tone-on-tone allover floral and leaf design sneaks a peek on the mellow field. Curvaceous forked arabesques frame the two types of slate border palmettes.
