Antique Turkish Oushak Large Carpet

This wool pile, with symmetric knots on a wool foundation, features an unusual and highly desirable pale blue field that hosts eleven offset rows of well-spaced palmettes, connected by a vestigial straight vinery. The palmettes are accented with shades of tangerine and sand. The golden yellow strip-style border displays palmettes, rosettes, and stiff oblique sprays of florets, possibly stylized hyacinths. The expansive pale blue tone makes the carpet appear even larger than its actual dimensions. The rarity of this color in such a size and allover pattern speaks for itself.
